What Does Your Smile Say About You?
- I'm happy!
- I'm confident
- I smile naturally
- I am friendly and outgoing
- I have self confidence and like who I am
Cosmetic Dentistry Let's face it, your smile says a lot about you. Your smile and the condition of your teeth is a direct reflection on you. The first thing people notice when they meet you for the first time is your smile. People with attractive smiles are generally more confident, happier, friendlier and seem to enjoy life more. Your smile really does matter. Studies show that 99.7% of Americans believe a smile is an important social asset. Also, a more pleasant smile can help you get ahead in life. People want to date someone who is attractive and who takes care of their appearance. Employers want to hire and promote people who are more attractive and who have a warm friendly smile. Another study shows 74% of Americans believe an unattractive smile can hurt a person's chances of career success. Your smile is one of your biggest assets. Dull, stained, crooked or missing teeth canCosmetic Dentistry negatively affect how others feel about you and it affects how you feel about yourself.
The Dental Technology is Here
Advances in dental technology have made procedures we used to only dream about an everyday reality. There are veneers, cosmetic bonding, porcelain crowns, teeth whitening and dental implants - just to name a few. From no-prep/no anesthesia cosmetic veneers to extreme smile makeovers as seen on TV.
Look Years Younger With Cosmetic Dentistry
Would you like to look younger without the expense and risk of cosmetic surgery? Modern cosmetic dentistry can now offer dramatic changes in facial appearance without the need for invasive surgery and long recovery periods. The doctors at Perfect Smiles Dental Care are well versed in the latest facial restructuring techniques available to the cosmetic dentist.
The proper alignment of the teeth and the jaws can produce a startling and instantaneous change to a person's facial structure. Wrinkles can suddenly disappear, lips can be fuller and restoring a proper relationship of teeth can make someone look 10 to 15 years younger.

Broken down, chipped, stained, cracked, crooked and worn teeth not only make you look older, but they can also make your face look older too. As teeth wear, they become shorter causing the face to collapse thereby producing wrinkles. Restoring teeth to their natural youthful appearance can have a similar transformation on the rest of your face.
Long lasting and affordable smile makeovers can make a difference in your life! You'll look years younger and feel much better about yourself. You'll be able to speak and eat as you naturally would. You'll discover that cosmetic dentistry is surprisingly easy and last for decades. Your friends will say, "You Look Great" when they notice the change in your smile.
With our state-of-the-art cosmetic techniques, we can eliminate and beautifully restore unsightly cavities, stains, chips, gaps, cracks and crooked teeth in as little as one or two visits. You'll be able to smile with confidence.
Instant Orthodontics
Instant orthodontics refers to a number of different cosmetic procedures where teeth are made to appear straight using porcelain veneers, crowns or bonding. The results take only a fraction of the time that regular orthodontics would require - and you never have to wear braces. Instant orthodontics is fast becoming the treatment of choice for adults who want their teeth straightened. When completed, the results are a beautiful, natural-looking smile with straight teeth.
If you would like a more attractive smile and straighter teeth without the time and annoyance of braces, you may be a candidate for instant orthodontics. Call today to schedule your complimentary smile consultation.

Mercury-Free Tooth-Colored Composite Fillings
|
|
Now you can replace any ugly, old, worn-out cracked amalgam black fillings with mercury-free tooth-colored composite fillings. These tooth-colored composite fillings are a special type of resin that is bonded in and then light cured with a special ultra-violet light. These bonded fillings restore cavities, chips, gaps and cracks found in teeth. Over time, traditional silver-mercury amalgam fillings expand and contract with changes in temperature in the mouth and actually act as a wedge over time pushing the tooth apart.
Composite fillings are bonded in and actually pull the tooth together forming a stronger restoration for the tooth. At the same time the composite fillings have many tooth shades to choose from so exact color matches can be made to match the color of the tooth being restored. When completely restored, the tooth looks natural. The tooth-colored filling blends in and cannot be seen.
Also, when restoring a tooth with composite fillings, the bonding solution used also acts as a desensitizing medium. So after the tooth has been restored, there is little to no post operative sensitivity to cold and hot so often associated with the traditional silver-mercury amalgam fillings being placed in the past. No longer experience the feeling of chewing on "tin-foil" when chewing gum.
If you speak for a living and are constantly in the public eye, then having a mouth full of black amalgam fillings can be a distraction. For cosmetic reasons these black amalgams can be replaced with tooth-colored composite resin fillings. This of course, is only upon a patient's request.
If you have any questions or want to find out more about the benefits of composite fillings, please call our office for a complimentary consultation.

Sedation Dentistry
Make fear of the dentist a thing of the past. By taking a sedation pill before your dental appointment, you will feel drowsy and be able to relax during the entire dental procedure. You will not be unconscious, just deeply relaxed and drowsy. You will be able to respond to the doctor and his team members. No IV needles are used. Sedation dentistry is for the anxious, fearful or very busy patient. The sedation technique completely removes all feelings of anxiety and apprehension. This treatment has an amnesic effect and also a compression of time effect; meaning there is little or no memory of your visit and a two hour appointment seems like a one hour appointment. We can correct years of embarrassing problems in as little as one or two appointments!
Sedation dentistry really works and it's safe. It's a safe way to make a long appointment more relaxing. The sedation technique works by taking a small pill an hour before your appointment. A friend or family member will drive you to the office and drive you home after the appointment. When you arrive, you will feel tired and drowsy. During the appointment a monitoring device will be placed on your finger and arm to monitor your vital signs. The doctor and experienced dental team will make sure you are comfortable during the entire procedure. After the appointment is over, your friend or family member will drive you home to relax and recover. Most patients are able to return to work the next day.
With sedation dentistry you can wake up to a more comfortable and beautiful smile.
We have successfully treated patients who say:
- "I'm afraid of needles and shots."
- "I've had bad experiences before."
- "It's been so long, I'm afraid it's too late for me."
- "I have a bad gag reflex that prevents me from having dental work done."
- "I'm so busy with my job traveling I don't have time to come in for three or four appointments."
- "I just can't seem to get numb."
- "I don't like the noise of the drill and the smell of a dental office."
- "I'm so embarrassed to open my mouth because of years of neglect."
Your total comfort, peace of mind and guaranteed satisfaction is our number one priority. With sedation dentistry you can kiss your fears goodbye and totally relax under our comfortable conscious anesthesia and anxiety-free techniques. If you fear the dentist, you're not alone! You can finally put all of your dental anxieties aside in our office. We understand your fears! Our dental assistants will even hold your hand if you want them to.
To see if you are a candidate for sedation dentistry, please call to schedule a complimentary consultation. We will gladly answer all your questions: 913-631-2677

Implant crowns and bridges are the next best thing to real teeth. They replace single or multiple missing teeth. You'll be able to chew any type of foods and confidently smile again. Under local anesthesia or IV sedation, implants are titanium posts that are painlessly placed underneath the gum line into the jaw bone. Over a few weeks the jaw bone forms a special biological bond to the implant. This bond causes the implant to be "rock-solid" and forms a great foundation to support a crown. With multiple implants integrated into the jaw, bridges and dentures can be fabricated to fit over these implants. Again, a great foundation is formed to support multiple crowns, bridges or dentures.
The lifetime success rate for dental implants is in the 99th percentile. Implants will last a lifetime when combined with regular dental check ups and cleanings. With good home care and regular visits to the hygienist, the implants will continue to serve their supporting function. Never again will that implant area ever have decay, need root canal therapy or experience sensitivity to cold or hot temperature changes.

Dentures
Cosmetic dentures look and feels like real teeth. You'll be able to comfortably eat about anything you want. You'll look ten to fifteen years younger and feel so much better about yourself. We can even fabricate dental implant retained lower and upper cosmetic dentures for those patients with no ridge support to hold the conventional suction retained dentures. These implant retained dentures will never become loose or slip and slide when eating. Many patients have endured and put up with ill-fitting dentures for years due to poor ridge support. After receiving implant retained dentures, they comment that they wish they had these made years before. Now these same patients can go out in public and to restaurants and to church and social functions and not have to worry about what type of foods will be served. They can eat and talk with confidence. Many of these patients have gone from miserable "shut-ins" to happy social butterflies. Our cosmetic and implant retained dentures have given many patients their life back. They are healthier because they can now eat all types of foods pain-free and are happier because of all the social aspects that come from "getting out of the house."

is now available in our office.
Dr. Bridenstine is an Invisalign certified dentist.
Now there is a new way to straighten teeth without braces.
Invisalign Invisalign uses a series of nearly undetectable aligners instead of brackets and wires. So even up close it's really hard for people to tell you're wearing Invisalign. This new treatment can give you the smile you've always wanted without the braces you've always avoided.
No metal wires and brackets.
Because there are no metal wires and brackets, Invisalign is more comfortable than traditional braces. And because they are removable, eating, brushing and flossing are no problem. You can still enjoy your favorite foods and smile without holding back. With Invisalign, there's nothing to hide.
Diagnosis and Treatment Plan by an Invisalign-trained orthodontist
Our office will give you an initial examination to determine if Invisalign treatment is right for you. If it appears that Invisalign is an option, we will take photographs, x-rays, and an impression of your teeth, then submit them to our consulting orthodontic specialist. He will then complete further diagnostic analysis to verify that Invisalign will work for you and create a treatment plan that will determine exactly how the teeth are straightened. At that time, we will be able to let you know if you qualify for orthodontic insurance benefits and the estimated cost and length of treatment.
When the treatment plan is complete, your records will be sent to Invisalign along with the orthodontist's instructions. Using the latest advances in 3-D computer technology, Invisalign will translate the orthodontist's instructions into a series of precisely customized aligners. You will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks. Each set of aligners will gradually move your teeth closer and closer to the desired result. You will need to wear these aligners all the time except when you are eating, drinking, or cleaning your teeth.
Convenient treatment at our office
Throughout treatment, we will arrange for check-up appointments about every six weeks to make sure that treatment is progressing as predicted. Our consulting orthodontist will also follow your treatment by reviewing new digital photographs of your teeth. As treatment nears completion, the orthodontist will design a retention plan to help you keep your smile for life.
Talk to us today to see if Invisalign is right for you
You can relax knowing that your treatment is being diagnosed and monitored by an Invisalign-trained orthodontic specialist, and enjoy the convenience of treatment at our office. We will even be able to finish your case with teeth whitening if you desire, to give you a gleaming, bright smile.

Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is gum infection found underneath your gum-line. If left untreated, it can cause bone loss around the roots of your teeth making them loose and unable to chew. Gum disease is a silent and most often painless disease. Most people are unaware they have some form of it. A thorough exam by a dentist can detect if you have periodontal disease. Chronic bad breath, (halitosis), bleeding, red and puffy gums are early signs of gum infection. The treatment is a non-surgical approach. A registered dental hygienist can painlessly eliminate the infection, build-up and tarter that is trapped underneath the gum-line. Periodontal disease has also been linked as a contributing factor to heart disease. Periodontal disease treatment can prevent future bone loss around your teeth and enable you to keep your teeth for a lifetime.

TMJ - Jaw Joint - Pain and Popping
The condyles of your lower jaw that form the jaw joints, (TMJ) in front of your ears can be incorrectly positioned thus causing painful symptoms. Many times this incorrect positioning of the condyle is caused by an incorrect bite or some other type of tooth interference. When the condyle is positioned too far up into the joint, small blood vessels and nerves that go to the brain are pinched off thus causing neck pain, migraine headaches or chronic headaches. The clicking and popping sounds are a symptom that the condyle is not correctly positioned in the joint.
We offer many treatment options that can give instant long-term pain relief. These options range from wearing a small acrylic splint that fits over the biting surfaces of the teeth to special orthodontic types of retainers that are worn during the day and night. Some times traditional orthodontics with brackets and wires are required to successfully treat the Temporal Mandibular Joint, (TMJ) problem.
We have successfully treated many patients who are now pain-free from migraines, headaches and joint pain and popping. If you would like to visit with us and take advantage of a complimentary consultation in regards to your TMJ pain or migraine and headache problems, please call us today at: 913-631-2677

Children's Dentistry
In our office, a good time to bring your children into see us would be on or after their three year old birthday. At that age they are big enough and mature enough to sit by themselves in the dental chair. We usually will not take any x-rays at this age unless there was an emergency situation. We would do a basic exam and polish their teeth. We would only go as far as the child would let us go into the appointment. We want this first visit to be a positive one. We would not force the child to do anything he or she did not want to do. We are fully able to handle any type of emergency a child of this age would have.
Sometimes children under the age of eight years old become unmanageable in the dental chair. Translation: They cannot or will not follow the dentists and assistants directions and will not cooperate. Of course, we will not force any treatment upon the child or even attempt to restrain them. If it comes to this point, the unmanageable/uncooperative child is referred to a children's specialist, (pedodontist). The pedodontist will ask that your child be sedated and the dental work can be started or completed. This scenario rarely occurs but if you as a parent reading this know that the disposition of your child would be best served with a children's dental specialists, then it may be in your child's best interest to begin your child's dental experience with a pedodontist.
We offer a wide range of preventive and restorative services for children. We do regular cleanings, exams, x-rays, fluoride treatments and fillings of all sizes. Many children's fillings most of the time do not require the use of local anesthesia. All the child would feel during these minor filling procedures is a little vibration on their tooth. Our hygenists are very gentle and the clinical staff members love to work with children.
We also place preventive dental sealants on the grooves found on the chewing surfaces of the baby and permanent molars. These sealants are painlessly bonded in and last for years. Sealants prevent decay from forming on the teeth. We place many sealants each year on many children's teeth. Many of these children will grow up never having to experience having a filling placed and experiencing the sensation of being numb with local anesthesia.
Children's Dental Emergencies:
If you child has a tooth knocked out during an accident, you have the "Golden Hour" to get him or her into the dentist to have the tooth re-implanted and saved. Do not wash off the tooth. Place the tooth in a glass of water or milk and quickly bring the tooth and child into the dental office. We can re-implant the tooth and through bonding and splint therapy anchor the tooth back into place. Chances are in the future, the tooth may require a root canal and a crown. If the tooth does not come out during the accident but instead is pushed up into the gums or is hanging there loose, we can still place the tooth back into its proper place and bond and splint it back into the tooth socket. To save an accident damaged tooth, treatment must be performed within the Golden Hour. Waiting longer to have treatment done, reduces the chances that the tooth can be saved. Even if the child says they're OK after an accident, please have them come in so an x-ray of the tooth can verify if any tooth structure, tooth nerve or tooth root has been damaged.
